As an artist, I am curious about the human condition and idiosyncrasies that reflect universal experiences - I am interested in staging these truths through symbolic, surrealist, and expressionistic forms.

Bio:

Brett Dahl (they/them) is a queer, Métis, and gender-non conforming non-binary theatre artist based in Alberta, often working between Amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton), Mohkinstsis (Calgary), and Sikoohkotoki (Lethbridge/Blackfoot Territory).

Primarily a director, writer, and actor, Brett also works as a dramaturg, teacher, producer, administrator and drag performer. They have worked with theatre organizations across Canada and is currently the Artistic Director of Theatre Outré, Southern Alberta’s only queer theatre. Brett also hosts and curates the pop-up queer cabaret Sissy Fit. They focus on reclaiming, revisiting, and reimagining classical texts through a modern lens as well as developing new work. 

Brett is the proud recipient of the 2018 Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Emerging Artist Award and the 2020 RBC Emerging Artist Cultural Leader in Calgary Award. Brett holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Directing and a BFA in Acting from the University of Alberta.
